Paul H. Hasenyager, P.T.
Paul is a native of Orange, CA and alumni of Orange Lutheran High School where he quarterbacked the football team and lettered in baseball. He graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy in 1986. Since then he has continued his education with numerous courses including The Back School of Atlanta, and various specialty studies in knee and shoulder rehabilitation. He founded and directed Champion Physical Therapy and Sportsmedicine, Inc. before selling his practice to a large national rehabilitation company. After spending the next ten years working with other clinics he decided to return to private practice to incorporate the best ideas of his years of experience into one clinic. In addition to working in Physical Therapy Paul spends his out of the office time training as a competitive road cyclist, working occasionally in the entertainment industry as an actor and and coaching youth baseball and soccer while residing in Orange, CA.
Larry Furry, P.T.A.
Larry studied Exercise Physiology at California State University, Northridge. He then continued his education by becoming licensed through the Physical Therapy Assistant Program at Pierce College. Since completing his education Larry has worked at the Southern California Center for Sportsmedicine in Long Beach, CA, one of the top orthopedic groups in Southern California. He continued his career with Southern California Orthopedic Institute and the Northridge Hospital Medical Center in Van Nuys, CA. He then continued at the Concentra Medical Center in Anaheim where he was promoted to Physical Therapy Department Director. From there Larry partnered with Paul Hasenyager, PT to found ActivBody Physical Therapy in 2002. In addition to his Physical Therapy career, Larry also does personal fitness training as well as coaches and plays ice hockey.
Dr. Erin Hernandez PT, DPT, CSCS
Erin studied Kinesiology, Exercise Science at California State University, Fresno. It was there that she first earned her certification in Personal Training and began training athletes, students, weekend warriors, and mature adults wanting to enhance their life with physical activity. After completing her undergraduate work, Erin returned to the Bay Area to work with individuals struggling with chronic pain through an intensive functional restoration program. She worked in a multidisciplinary team with highly respected individuals including doctors, psychiatrists, marriage and family therapists, physical therapists, personal trainers, acupuncturists, and wellness providers. She taught pain management and corrective exercise techniques to combat pain and disability for her patients. Erin received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Azusa Pacific University in 2014. Erin has done extensive work with people suffering from chronic injuries such as CRPS (RSD), Low back pain, spinal fusions, rotator cuff injuries, fibromyalgia, total and partial joint replacements. Erin understands how it feels to be injured after she experienced her own knee injuries and she enjoys helping her patients return to a happy and productive life after their injury.
When not in the office, Erin enjoys spending time with her husband and son, traveling, hiking with her dog “Pepper” and being outdoors.
Katherine Swailes, PTA
Katie completed her Bachelor of Science in kinesiology at California State University Fullerton in 2006. She went on to complete her Certificate from Cerritos College Physical Therapist Assistant Program, and received her Physical Therapist Assistant License in 2008. Katie has worked as a PTA in the outpatient setting now for 8 years, and has experience with a number of orthopedic and soft tissue injuries both pre and post surgical. She specializes in manual therapy for cervical and lumber pain, get feels that a consistent stretching and strengthening exercise program is essential to decrease symptoms, improve function and reach your rehab goals. Katie’s goal is to eliminate pain, get patients back to their prior level of function and prevent further injury. She believes that the key to a successful rehabilitation program is communication, consistency, patience and safety. Katie is a wife and mother of two small children, and enjoys her days off being outdoors with her family. Katie has been a Huntington Beach Resident for 18 years and is proud to call Surf City her home.
Shaina Lim, PTA
Shaina has always had an interest in the medical and healthcare field. She was encouraged in school to pursue physical therapy and found out she had a gift of listening and helping patients. Shaina first was a student intern with ActivBody Physical Therapy. She did such an outstanding job as a student she was one of few handpicked to continue permanently with the company. Shaina is good at motivating patients to achieve their best results in physical therapy.
In her free time Shaina enjoys sports cars, motorcycles and kayaking.
